I’m trying to decide if I feel that it is better for Veteran’s Day to fall on a weekend or not. On one hand, one could say that technically you are doubling up on the honor as there is the weekend day and also the observed day on Monday. I, however, don’t find that I necessarily think of it on the weekend as I’m still out and about doing my regular things, and only really still consider the Monday to be Veteran’s Day as that’s the one that I remember on. Seeing as I feel bad about the second one more than I feel the honor of the first one, I guess I land on the side that it is bad when Veteran’s Day falls on a weekend.
All that being said, I can only echo my sentiments of yesterday, and the same sentiments I will feel tomorrow. There is no person I have more respect for than a person who has honorably served their country. I am honored to be the descendant of a veteran (my grandfather) and have a cousin that is serving right now. I know that I am friends and even related to other veteran’s, and wish I could list and thank them all, but my memory and my words would likely fail me. I can only say thank you to all of those who made sacrifices to serve, from mere inconvenience to loss of life. You are true heroes, and I salute you.
I mentioned that I still went about my business today, and that included the start of softball playoffs. Rather than recount that here (which I feel would detract from this post), I will instead save it for tomorrow, especially since it’s going to be a little hard for me.
