It’s been a fairly quiet Monday so far, and I just have some random things that I want to address without doing full blog posts on them (yet, I’m sure, for some). Of course, now that I’ve typed that, I’ve forgotten half of them. Let’s see if some writing will jog them loose.
First off, I’m getting my Green belt tonight! Yay! Only two colors away from Black. Of course, those two contain sub colors, so it’s actually five belts (Green, Green Black, Green Red, Red, Red Black) and almost two years. But hey, if it was easy, why bother?
My mile and a half test last week as well as a couple of workouts a month or two ago have gotten a bit of the speed bug back into my system, at least for shorter distances. I’m starting to add interval training to my workouts for speed, with the goal of hitting a sub-eight minute mile when I do my exit testing for my fitness class in December. Considering I ran two miles today in sub-nine minutes average while alternating fast and slow laps (until the last half mile where I did one and a half out of the four at speed), it’s a promising start.
My missing time at the Disneyland Half Marathon apparently is bothering me more than I let on, as I’m writing them an email to see what can be done. I guess just having the medal and satisfaction of finishing isn’t enough for me when the internet and searchable databases are involved. I’ll let you know what happens.
Had a nice time last night with Jess, my parents, my Grandma (Mom’s Mom), and my sister and her husband Kenny at Marie Calendar’s for some pie, since my Mom and Grandma are going back east for ten days. Jess and I will have to make our way back to Maine one day, I hear it’s lovely. So many different places to go, and so little vacation time and money to do it.
Nice, just thought of my post for tomorrow and fired up a draft to write it down the idea. A nice bonus to doing this random post.
TobyMac (originally from the band of my childhood, dcTalk) released his latest album “Eye On It” last week (which, of course, I had to immediately pick up, and with some mp3 credits I had saved up I was able to do so for a buck) and became only the third overtly Christian album to top the Billboard 200 chart (and the other two happened in 1997 – Bob Carlisle’s “Butterfly Kisses” and LeAnn Rimes’ “You Light Up My Life – Inspirational Songs” if you’re curious). That’s really just a sidelight to my observation: I’m keenly enjoying the fact that one of my favorite songs on the album is titled “Favorite Song.” Good on you TobyMac.
Well, if I forgot any topics I wanted to touch on, I’ll just have to give them their own Random Updates post.
