2012-366 Day 248 – Recovery II

Hmm, the last time I used this title it was from a karate test and a grilled cheese binge. Feeling a bit more justified about using it this time. The problem with running a race that starts at 5:45 in the morning is that it really screws with your sleep cycle if you are a night person. The extra day off for Labor Day helped, but sleeping in yesterday led to me only getting about four hours of sleep when I had to get up at the normal time this morning. I actually feel pretty awake right now (although a shot of caffeine did help that, it really is more effective when you use it as a patch and not a constant thing), but am expecting to crash early tonight.

Physically I’m doing alright, although I was surprised to find that my sorest spot the last two days has been my hips. Not sure which aspect of running a half-marathon irritated them so. My guess would have to be either bouncing side to side to go around people, or walking around bow-legged for the rest of the day with the chaffing. Anyhow, like all good distance runs, time is improving the memories, and the pain that fades is the first memory to get jettisoned.

Looking at the results posted, apparently my tag didn’t register at the finish. 🙁 There were, however, plenty of pictures out there and even a couple of me crossing the finish line, so, between that and the medal, I at least know I did it. Speaking pictures, here’s the medal:

Although I actually show up in the background of Belen’s pictures more often, and have four videos on her page. (WARNING: The videos autoplay when you go to the page.)

Now I have to go to a strength training class. We’ll see how this goes.
