2012-366 Day 203 – Weekend Wrap Up XIV

We’re safely back from our “North” vacation. Our friends Brian and Dennis joined us in Brian’s Explorer and we took off on Sunday morning up the coast, with the eventual goal of making it to the Oregon border before getting home on Friday night/Saturday morning. We had a lot of fun and got to see a lot of great places, but it was good to be home today and do some resting up from the vacation (isn’t it always like that). More stories to come during the next few blog posts (and even in this one), but for now lets get to the Wrap Up.

Sunday (7/15) – The Coast: Later, in our stop along the Avenue of the Giants, I remembered my favorite beach: the beach along the banks of a river. We just happened to pick the one stop out of eight that featured information on river otters and bordered the Eel River. We took the short hike to the river and were surrounded by the giant trees and peaceful water, with a bridge and just a beautiful setting. We didn’t get to see any otters, but it was just a wonderful slice of heaven on earth.

Monday (7/16) – Adventure: You can look forward to a full blog post on this one in the upcoming week, and I promise it will be a good one.

Tuesday (7/17) – Road Trip Food I: You can also look forward to the second half of this one, with some more good food stops.

Wednesday (7/18) – Comfort Zone: The feelings faded fairly quickly, and there were several places like Ashland that didn’t bother me like that (I actually liked Ashland a lot). Not a place I’d go out and live though, I can’t imagine having that feeling all the time.

Thursday (7/19) – Stargazing: If I can get to do some stargazing by a remote river, I’m pretty sure that’s as close to location heaven as I can get. May have to work on making that happen.

Friday (7/20) – Aurora, Colorado: As more information comes out, the more horrid this tragedy becomes. I’m not looking forward to what the trial is going to do to the victim’s families and survivors. I firmly believe justice will be done, but I pray the process doesn’t do more damage here.
